Open the doors to Maria's ceramic modelling workshop! In this four-hour session, you will learn the tools and techniques involved in clay modelling, from start to finish.
First, Maria will introduce you to the basic techniques and tools involved in ceramic modelling. Next, she'll demonstrate how to shape your slab of clay using cylindrical moulds.
Participants will then have the opportunity to personalise their objects using geometrical patterns, vegetal elements, and slim (liquid coloured clay) directly on the slab.
After that, it's time to start shaping your objects using the moulds. You will learn how to create and shape the handle, and then you will reproduce it yourself.
You will come back three weeks later to collect your products after Maria glazes and fires them twice. You will leave the workshop with four personalised objects you will cherish to use every day: two mugs and two coasters.
This workshop is a unique opportunity to learn a new skill and create something practical and beautiful!

Introducing Maria, a talented artist with a passion for painting and pottery. Although she initially studied art and painting, Maria discovered the art of pottery about a decade ago and has been creating stunning pieces ever since. Her dedication to the craft led her to transition to pottery full-time three years ago, and she hasn't looked back since.
Maria has also shared her passion for art with children and young people, teaching art courses for over 10 years. She finds joy in exchanging and transmitting her knowledge to the next generation of artists.
In her intimate and cosy studio located in ASC Art House in Croydon, Maria pours her heart into her creations. Her unique expertise lies in painting and pottery working with clay slabs, making her a true master of her craft.
Maria values the exchange and connection that art brings. Her warm, welcoming personality makes her an approachable and inspiring artist, always ready to share her knowledge and expertise with others.
In her free time, Maria indulges in her passion for plants, finding inspiration in nature's shapes and colours. You might even find a few plant cuttings in her studio, as she loves to share her love for plants with fellow enthusiasts.
