Welcome to the exciting world of ceramic modelling! In this 2.5 hour workshop, you'll learn the techniques and tools of this ancient art form.
Under the guidance of our talented artist, Maria, you'll start by receiving an introduction to clay/ceramic modelling, the techniques involved, and the tools required.
Next, you'll witness a demonstration of how to manipulate and shape your slab of clay using moulds. Participants will then have the opportunity to personalise their objects using geometrical patterns, vegetal elements, and slip (liquid coloured clay) directly on the slab.
What makes this workshop great is that you'll be able to create personalized objects that you can use every day. After that, it's time to start shaping your objects using the moulds. You can choose to create a pair of small plates, a pair of small bowls, or one large bowl.
You'll be able to collect your product three weeks later after Maria has glazed and fired them twice, to proudly display in your home!

Introducing Maria, a talented artist with a passion for painting and pottery. Although she initially studied art and painting, Maria discovered the art of pottery about a decade ago and has been creating stunning pieces ever since. Her dedication to the craft led her to transition to pottery full-time three years ago, and she hasn't looked back since.
Maria has also shared her passion for art with children and young people, teaching art courses for over 10 years. She finds joy in exchanging and transmitting her knowledge to the next generation of artists.
In her intimate and cosy studio located in ASC Art House in Croydon, Maria pours her heart into her creations. Her unique expertise lies in painting and pottery working with clay slabs, making her a true master of her craft.
Maria values the exchange and connection that art brings. Her warm, welcoming personality makes her an approachable and inspiring artist, always ready to share her knowledge and expertise with others.
In her free time, Maria indulges in her passion for plants, finding inspiration in nature's shapes and colours. You might even find a few plant cuttings in her studio, as she loves to share her love for plants with fellow enthusiasts.
